Melange of Indo-Japanese Arts

This cake has a special place in my heart not just because of it’s Japanese connection, but for the reason that it is for the veteran Kathak dancer, Guru Maneesha Sathe!
Her famous dance academy, ‘Maneesha Nrityalaya Kathak Dance Institute, Pune’, had organized a festival titled ‘Divine Confluence’ – an Indo-Japanese dance soiree on occasion of it’s 40 years completion.
It was a melange of Japanese and Indian music and dance art forms. The dancers from Japan performed Kathak, and Indian artistes showcased their skills on Taiko – the Japanese drums. It also included other Japanese dance forms like the dragon dance, the fan dance etc.
In addition, Maneesha tai is celebrating her 60th birthday throughout the year. My dear friend Shweta, who is a close friend of Maneesha tai, wanted me to design a cake which will showcase this collaboration theme and surprise Maneesha tai!
Hence I came up with this design, based on the logo of the festival. Enjoyed working on each and every minute detail and it’s my favorite cake so far. Hope you all like it too! :)
