One of the most special cakes I’ve made. This was for my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. The picture of them is from a cruise they were on and my mom just happened to have on a gold dress. This was perfect to use as inspiration for their characters on their cake.
My mom wanted a golden ribbon around the cake, but didn’t want a girly bow. She loved the look of the tied off ribbon. She also was very fond of the quilted look with pearls, which I “attempted” for the first time. It didn’t imprint very well. I’d seen a beautiful cake by Nancy’s Cakes And Beyond that I’ve always admired, and thought of how she’d put the rose layer in the middle. Mom loves the rose cake and was excited about all of the elements together. I love that this was everything she wanted!
The top tier was my dad’s favorite, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, the middle tier was white almond sour cream with butter cream – a favorite for everyone, and the bottom tier was my mom and dad’s favorite, Italian with cream cheese frosting.
