I made this for a friend who helps out at his local theatre. Madeira sandwiched with jam and buttercream. I wasn’t confident enough to make drapes with the red fondant so instead I put the red where I wanted the curtains and gave it a draped effect by adding rolled sausages of fondant in a matching colour. The masks of Comedy & Tragedy were cut by hand and left to dry over a couple of nights around a cardboard tube before being painted with silver and gold edible paint – pretty gungy stuff, don’t like the finish on it.
The inspiration came from a couple of photos on Cakecentral, the cake by Emmar308 and the masks by Benja
