The Toy Story cake is done and delivered….I had so much fun doing this cake; I really enjoy modelling characters out of sugar. My client, wanted as many characters as possible but I was only able to commit to 5 for sure, maybe 6 ..but not Woody, Jessie, Buzz or Rex…they are far too complex to do quickly and with the order coming in a week ahead of date needed it just wouldn’t be possible. So, the client said that’s was okay she would look around and see if she could find some 2 or 3" toys to use for the missing characters BUT surprisingly enough there are very few small Toy Story toys to be found … I was looking as well. Mom was about to give up and she found Toy Story Pez Dispensers … SCORE, the only problem was, they are only busts of the characters and the characters I made were full 3d. This meant I had a bit of a challenge to disguise the fact the the toys had no body or legs … (if I didn’t disguise it…the characters would have looked really odd). Finally I got idea of putting them in a crate with packing peanuts around them (marshmallows) and Sketch letting us know they were going to the attic. Even the toy box is sugar paste. The bottom tier is a two layer chocolate mud cake with vanilla filling, the top tier is vanilla cake with vanilla filling. All topped off with real buttercream icing. The toys and accents are sugar paste, with the exception of the Pez Dispensers…LOL
