A shared cake for two very special birthdays. A fiend asked if I would make a cake for her parents 70th birthday. Her daughter had drawn a design and they wanted one side with a Kingfisher and the other penguins. My friends Dad loves Kingfishers and used to be a carpenter, hence the tools and her Mum used to be a nurse who loves penguins….easy!
There are so many new things I learnt making this cake. I made modelling chocolate and mixed it with fondant to make the bird, I used pastillage to make the penguin sledge and I even managed to get a penguin floating above the surface of the cake (though my photography skills are awful you can’t really see it). I also used Little Cherry Cake Company (T-Cakes) awesome tutorial to create the dividing board.
I love all the little bits and pieces that go with this cake.
Hope you like
Angela.
