There’s a little story behind this cake!

I made it for my cousins wedding on valentines day. She requested the exact design with the base being fruit (I’d never made a fruit cake in my life) middle chocolate sponge and the top vanilla sponge. I did cheat with the pre made flowers but I made the topper out of wire and beads.

The first pic (in my kitchen) is the finished cake I sent her the pic the night before and joked I hoped she liked it as I wasn’t starting it all over again. The second pic is the cake she ended up with!
On the morning of her wedding on route to her venue I had a car accident and the top tire was ruined and the whole cake slid 😫 I managed with the help of family members to get the cake home repositioned on the board and board re-iced, the top replaced with a cut down re-iced supermarket birthday cake and touched up the red details and a few new silver balls.
Finally I managed to get the cake to the venue as she was saying her vowels looking not to much different to how if started phew
But the best bit was all the compliments on my fist ever attempt at fruit cake :)
