I wanted this cake to look like a lady’s coffee table, as she just put down her crochet to get some hot water for her afternoon tea and a sweet treat.
This cake was not made for any special occasion, I was just practicing different techniques. Everything is edible except, flower stems and crochet needle.
The orchid pot is vanilla cake with espresso fudge buttercream and dark chocolate ganache, I wanted it to look antiqued and glazed.
I got a great tip from one amazing Cakes Decor lady Gulnaz Mitchell about Ciccio Cakes home made sugar lace recipe, which is one of the techniques I used here.
