I made this cake for a 14 years old girl who came for holiday from England to New Zealand. Her grandmother contacted me about the cake and asked for a simple round cake. I thought it would be a very boring cake for a young girl. I don’t usually take a control on the design, but I knew that woman very well and, since a girl came from cloudy Britain I thought it would be nice to make a colourful funky bag, a tropical hibiscus, shells and sand. They were so thrilled when they saw the cake, that they decided to keep shells and put them into a frame with a photo to remember their New Zealand holiday.
