This was my first cake for 2014. The client originally wanted me to recreate a potato-shaped cake (half of a potato, since it’s a sheet cake style) they found online, but with a bow tie. I was lucky enough to convince them to grant me creative freedom, and so, I made it a standing potato with bow tie and added the hat to make it more whimsical. The cake was a for a friend who LOVES potatoes, and it was presented at a Winter Ball. The cake is a chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache and stands at 8" high, with bottom 3" being foam, to give desired height.
