This was made for my cousins girlfriend’s birthday. The only spec he gave me was that it was for a Mad Hatters Tea Party and one of the tiers had to be red velvet! So I could do what I wanted design wise. yay, it’s not often this happens! I thought it was the perfect opportunity to get my Dinkydoodle Airbrush out, as I had won it in October last year, but had been too chicken to try it out! I dug out my daughters Alice in Wonderland and chose some of my favourite scenes from the book. The top tier is Coffee sponge with an espresso buttercream, middle tier is red velvet with a vanilla buttercream and the bottom tier is chocolate orange sponge with a chocolate orange ganache.

I had it in my head that I wanted to create a pouring effect with the teapot as soon as I knew what the theme was. Originally I was going to use flower paste and create a plaque, but I was worried that it would break during transit (It was being driven 159 miles to London) Then I thought about using chocolate sugarpaste, but I was worried that it would be too heavy and end up dragging the spout off the teapot. I woke up suddenly at 4am the day it was being collected with a brain wave!! Use rice paper, it’s light and I can colour it any shade I like!! (Come on….I know I’m not the only saddo who thinks of cake in the middle of the night!!) I then had to write myself a note so that I didn’t forget! I also knew I wouldn’t be able to go back to sleep till I did this! ….Anyway…Here it is, the finished product which I must say I was pretty pleased with! :) Hope you like it and thanks for looking. And if you’re still reading this…thanks for not getting bored! :D xx
