Here’s the story of this cake …
A few weeks ago I had a secret design meeting with a lovely little 8 year old. Her name was Holly and she wanted to surprise her mum with a very special cake for her 30th birthday when they went away for a few days to celebrate … She came with her dad, drawing in hand, her wish list written and her sketch with instructions (she was very organised and had learnt a lot from her mum, an ex-caker – no pressure haha !) And so, after a wonderful chat, some more sketching and a few tweaks here and there, we both agreed on the final basic design. I asked her to draw me her best picture of how she sees her lovely mum and write a little message too, and so a week later she brought me a wonderful image that I scanned and printed onto fondant …. And so, here it is … The Secret Cake ! (GF) Vanilla sponge with a smidgen of tangy lemon curd and lots of fresh raspberry buttercream ! It’s fab to be able to say to Holly that NO-ONE in the entire world will ever have a cake that looks exactly like this, and I’ve just heard from ‘Mum’ that she absolutely loved it !!! Ahhh that makes me happy ! So, thankyou Holly for trusting me with your special surprise, and Happy Birthday Adele !
