Happy Birthday!! This cake was for a dear Deadhead friend for his 40th birthday. His wife suggested we make his favorite image from the rich graphic legacy gifted to the band by the amazing Stanley Mouse, the graceful and lovely “Bertha” skull with roses. The Skull is carved out of Dark Chocolate cake and Dark Chocolate Buttercream, and the roses, leaves and ribbons are 100% sugar – no supports. The Wheel is the Birthday Boy’s favorite Dead tune, and I made it with non-edible supports so that he could keep it. The Birthday Boy was completely blown away, and did not want to cut it! It was quickly devoured afterwards though, and everyone went away delighted. Happy Birthday, and Many More Shows to Go!!
