Inspiration for my piece is taken both from the film & ballet versions of The Nutcracker. The model of the little Nutcracker is taken straight from the film but I have based Clara, who in some versions is also known as Marie, on the ballet version capturing the soft flowing material in her dress & her soft flowing curls in her hair. Clara & the Nutcracker are both made from modelling paste. The Christmas Tree in the background stands at 1 ft tall. It has a Styrofoam centre & the branches have been build up using modelling paste & then airbrushed green. All of the little decorations are also made from modelling paste. It has been such a privilege to be involved in such an exciting project for such a fantastic & worthwhile cause.
