RE: Type of Armature Wire for Models

Hi Sandra, I have rheumatism too! :-) so I’m glad I’m not alone in that, even though it’s a strange disease …
I use threaded rods and a tube to bend them. It’s easy and it holds up very well :-)

Thanks for your reply, Lenkydortycr. I’ve used threaded rods for large cake structures, but never seen any small enough to use for models. Most of my pieces are 15 inches tall or less, so pretty small. Here is an armature for a wolf I’m working on right now. It is made from 14 gauge wire wrapped in floral tape. He will be about 7 inches long from nose to the tip of his tail.
