I've always loved baking and as a child, I used to help my parents bake and decorate cakes and other goodies for our parties. The first 'proper' cake which I decorated was my son's 1st birthday cake (it was meant to be a chick but looked more like a prehistoric version - luckily he wasn't scared by it!). I then started making and decorating cakes for friends and family and quickly realised how much I loved it - and how much there is to learn! I took a few short courses but am mainly self-taught. I set up my business, Mrs Robinson's Cakes, in 2012 but with 4 young children I limit the number of orders which I take on but plan to take on a lot more business once they are all at school. I work from my kitchen at home and have all the relevant insurances, food hygiene certificates and council approval. To me, it's equally as important to have a cake which tastes fantastic as it is to have a cake which looks amazing.
