Castle Cake

Castle Cake:
I found these snaps in my archive and thought it would help some one. Very fond memories are associated with this cake as this was my daughter’s first B day cake. And Yes, even my first Novelty cake and that too when I didn’t know the A B C D of baking or decorations. You can see all the flaws in the cake.
Confession time : I used Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix and icing to make the 6 cakes. After all, who has the guts to try out a cake from scratch when they are trying it for the first time. :)
I baked three 23 cms chocolate cakes and three 15 cms chocolate cakes separately. Vanilla butter cream icing was pasted on all layers and on sides. Chocolate butter cream icing was there in between each cake i baked..

The towers were made of three ice cream waffle cones. (As seen in pic 1 and 2). Bottom and middle ones are half waffle cones glued to each other using melted white chocolate. Turret cone was decorated with icing and sprinkles. Tip: Pour melted white chocolate over the cone and add sprinkles to it. That is the best glue I could ever find.. :)
Main challenge was on the readymade roll on marzipan – the diameter of the marzipan and cake was not correct. I ran out of marzipan and I didn’t have time to order new. So, you can see all the patch works. I hid most patch works using the creepers and flowers.

All items in the cake were edible except the toy little girl. Baking cakes took only one day and decorating took 2 days. I decorated the towers two days before the party.. Hope this helps some one… :-)
