How lucky was I to have a customer order a sheet cake from a local bakery and all I had to do was decorate it?!
The theme was twin monkeys and was based on invitations and tableware at the shower by babyshowerstuff.com.
I prepared a lot of the decorations in advance based on measurements given to me by the bakery. When I picked up the cake it was 3" smaller in each direction and I had to squash things up a bit!
The middle section is airbrushed with blue pearl lustre and the top and bottom strips are a modeling chocolate/fondant mix to keep it a little bit flexible on the cake.
The monkeys were cut from modeling chocolate (the dark brown) and fondant (the light brown), using a stencil I created from cardboard.
The letters were made using cutters I bought from ebay (Search for ‘Alphabet cookie cutters – they’re usually available).
