LV Topsy Turvy Hatbox Cake
I had a day to make this cake for my granddaughter Shannon’s 17th birthday after our holiday and so I baked 8" and 6" round mud cakes and put them in the freezer before we went away. I set to work shaping the cakes, ganaching them and covering with fondant first thing Monday morning – which took most of the day (being a slow-coach!) and then in the evening and early morning on Tuesday I made the outer decorations and painted the logos. I added a little variation to the style of the genuine LV ‘crosses’ on the top tier to incorporate a slightly gothic look to it – as well as add my ‘stamp’ so to speak. This cake is inspired by the very lovely Divine Cakes (upon request by Shannon!). This is a link to their gorgeous cake! https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=489397121138844&set=a.373192522759305.88165.372482332830324&type=1&theater
I varied the shape to introduce a fun element and chose the pink colour based on another cake she had shown me (I don’t know the author of that one, sadly).
