Apologies once again for not being around for a while, we sure are all living through troublesome times and hope you are all staying safe and well. Were all well and been extremely busy, joyfully painting a lot of portraits and home decorating and keeping fit in our hilly surrounds ☺️

I’m both delighted and honoured to be a part of this meaningful collaboration back in April, SugarArt4Autism which is a subject close to my heart. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Suzy and Dina @miettes_dina for all their hard work, dedication to the collaboration, the huge amount of research and inspirational artworks from various artists for us to be inspired by.
I was inspired by the amazing talented artist Kimberly Gerry-Tucker @mimestreams to create my African-themed cake around her painting she describes as “a collage about how nature feeds the soul, the woman symbolizes spirit of nature, guardian weary of world”

I loved the haunting symbolism and hot colours which reminded me of my childhood life in East Africa, with the aloes and aged baobab trees, and sultry heat.
Both tiers are dummies that I royal iced and then handpainted using saracinouk cocoa butter and edible colours, incorporating the soulful portrait, with aloes and a hint of baobab, and ethnic effect top tier.
The flowers are: fantasy baobab blossoms, pods and leaves, a flame lily, various succulents, berries. All hand made, some free hand, with use of some cutters and molds. I used @saracinouk flower paste.
Lov my cake stand, made by the fabulous team over at @prop.options

I’d also like to extend a big thanks to Michael Andolsek @andolsekofficial who was inspired by all our cakes and created a gorgeous fashion item for each. I love mine!! Thank you Michael. You can see more of them if you scroll through the photos. More of his work and the other cake artists around the globe can be seen on the Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/SugarArt4Autism/
