The medium used for this piece was Satin Ice fondant and gum-paste.
Some pieces are molded and painted by hand. Other are made by hand.
I wanted to capture some of the elements of the Dia de muertos, the vibrant
colors, the various skull characters, the papel picado , and the milagros. I played
with some paisley cutters to create a different border. Also, tried a
new technique on the board crackled fondant .
