I truly enjoyed making this cake for American Cake Decorating Magazine Jan / Feb 2017 issue.
In designing my cake, I wanted to incorporate the beautiful stages of amethyst. I added hints of the crystal cluster in the flowers and incorporated the faceted amethyst on the cake with a few clusters. I also hand piped each bead in the flowers and design with royal icing.
The stones and crystals are made out of isomalt. The flowers are fondant / gumpaste.
