I so very proudly present my gold and best in class winning wedding cake at our national Sugarcraft Show in Cork last weekend.
It is the biggest event of its kind here in Ireland with over 220 cake entries in 21 categories. It is judged to the standard of the British Sugarcraft Guild by a team of 8 BSCG judges, who are flown in for the event.
Inspiration for this cake was a painting by Donegal based Irish Artist Sharon McDaid whose work I’ve been admiring for a long time.
The biggest challenge was to create the misty depth of the middle tier, using an airbrush and royal icing techniques.
