First time wedding cake for The Frosted Cake Boutique. There were a few “first times” in this cake. First time making gumpaste Hydrangeas and first time trying the Billowing technique. Learned this technique online at http://thejoyofcake.shutterfly.com/tutorials/27#27.

The cake is amazing Esther, especially for your first attempt! I always screw things up on my first attempt! lol Hey, did you realize that Susan Trianos from BGC created the billowing technique!

I love how this turned out for you and especially for those firsts. It looks amazing. I actually have a small wedding cake coming up with the very same colors (pink & purple if my monitor colors are accurate) and I was actually thinking of making hydrangeas. I want to dust my hydrangeas, though. I hadn’t considered the billowing technique for my cake but you surely made it look nice. I just might have to go with billowing indeed. Great Job!!

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments! Tlee – I can’t wait to see how you make your wedding cake! I love the combination of pinks and purples against white. It’s stunning! So I have no doubt your cake will blow us away!
