I think it’s personal preference really. If you make it out of gumpaste, it’s technically edible, but wouldn’t be pleasant to eat after hardening! I could be kept as a keepsake afterwards though.
Using the RKT someone would be able to eat it, you just have a few more steps in order to cover it.
