I don’t believe it was the fondant at all. It was the bride feeling the need to complain. Or the caterer not used to cutting fondant and used something other than a knife to cut the pieces. So the pieces didn’t cut into pretty slices and she blamed the fondant instead taking responsibility for her screw up. I would bet that is what the caterer told the bride – it was the fondant of course not her inability to cut the cake properly. The bride wouldn’t know.
