re: Help with teapot cake

Margie.
I got a styrofoam circle,it is now do I cover the styro with foil first? or just icing the styro then fondant it, do I use chocolate to glue the cake to the fondant stryo base or icing? The underside of the teapot cake i do not cover in fondant so of course the cake will be showing so would icing not be better to glue to the stryo base?
Also I still need to put the thin cardboard plate under the foam for stacking the teapot on the lower table cake other wise the dowels will go through the styro right? Would icing or chocolate be better to glue the cardboard to upper and lower cake…I always used icing. Guess if I remember to put a long dowel from base of table cake up through the teapot that will help keep it from moving.
..just wondering when I cut the stacking cardboard I always foil mine thinking the icing will soften it due to the cut part… do you do this? is it needed to be done?
I kinda know the answers but just like some input I always doubt myself ;-) .. just do not want this cake to fall apart before it gets there ;-) Thanks Margie!
