re: Pie inside a cake?

I think I still have the recipe, my mother used to make what was called an Apricot Funny cake. Dried apricots reconstituted in hot water, layered into a baked pie crust with cake batter poured over and baked. It was pretty tasty and the pie crust did stay crispy. Years make memories different from what you thought you knew. Here is a link to a recipe I found. And I did find my mother’s original recipe as well. In my mother’s the pie crust is baked first but I was wrong about the apricots, the go on top of the poured cake batter, then baked. http://www.floras-hideout.com/recipes/recipes.php?page=recipes&data=a/Apricot_Funny_Cake
