Never tried this but if it helps, clear (synthetic) vanilla has exactly the same smell as the cream in the middle (if you want the name of the brand I’ll look it up for you) . I bought a bottle to use in homemade fondant but changed my mind once I smelled it. Artificial vanilla is not really my cup of tea!
