Some of the colour could be removed by slightly wetting a small piece of sponge in vodka. Little by little take off some of colour, step back and look at the result. Antlers are not a block colour, removing some of the colour will make light and shade giving a more realistic look. That’s what I did with a cake board which was to look like floor boards.
