A lot of times, there are situations where someone needs a sophisticated or detailed cake but may not have the budget or time to make it happen. This is where the simple solution of having the cake lying down rather than standing up, makes it a lot easier for the cake maker and a lot cheaper for the customer.

This weeks cake tip is a perfect example of this solution. To make a 3D Champagne Bottle standing up, is quite the challenge. The bottle needs to be very straight on the sides so it doesn’t look like its tilted, and and of course, there’s also internal support involved. Having the bottle lie down on the board instantly makes everything easier and this simple solution can be applied to many other cake ideas.
