Sugar Art for Autism

What happens when nearly 100 cake artists from 21 countries come together to raise awareness for Autism? They create something utterly amazing, heartfelt and meaningful.
Some have used their own children as inspiration, others have based their piece on artwork created by artists with Autism while others have used their own experience and knowledge on Autism.

The group has partnered with two charities that this collaboration hopes to benefit. So kindly have a look through and place a donation.

My love of using a cake as a canvas together with my interest and experience working with children with autism, piqued my interest in this collaboration
I was added to this wonderful collaboration by a close friend of mine only a month before the submission deadline.
With such short notice and mixed feelings, I delved into the world of cake collaborations for the very first time.
With my experience of working with children with Autism, it seemed like a perfect opportunity and cause to work towards.
I’m hoping that my piece sets out to convey the message, without trying to sound cliched, that we’re all pieces of a one big puzzle with all our perfections, imperfections and uniqueness trying to fit in. Some fit in easily and others need a little bit more help but all coming together eventually. There is room for all these pieces, if not let’s make room!.

I love Temple Grandin’s words – “The world needs different kinds of minds to work together. If by some magic autism had been eradicated from the face of earth, man would still be socialising in front of a wood fire at the entrance to a cave”.
