2) in another bowl mix buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and baking soda.

3) in a medium saucepan, melt butter and add cocoa. whisk to combine. meanwhile, bring 1 cup water to a boil. when butter is melted pour in cup of boiling water. allow to bubble for a moment and turn off heat.

Nothing compares!

thanks for sharing the recipe. Just a question – is it
1/4 teaspoon of salt?
1/2 cup of buttermilk?
1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter?
Sounds lovely and going to give it a try.

Yes! ThanKs so Much! I didn’t go back and make sure it was all there.

Add some mini marshmallows before pouring the icing on top and you have what we call here in the south …Mississippi Mud cake! ;)

this is amazing! sooo delicious! made it glutenfree and lactosefree! it’s so moist and yummy!!! I used pecan (unsalted) and added a few slightly salted peanuts … that gives it a nice unexpected twist ;-)

so glad it worked for you. Nice to know you can change it up a bit and it still just as moist. GREAT!!
