Cake sculptured doubt

Hello everyone! I have a doubt, I have to sculpt my first cake, and do not really know how to wrap it if it is large. How do I line a cake sculpted but large? If anyone can help I’d appreciate it!

Hi Veronica… I am not quite sure what you mean. A lot will depend on your size and design. I sculpted my rabbit cake… I placed a 2nd cake board (cut to size) between the head and the body, and dowelled for support, as you normally would with a tiered cake. The cake was masked in ganache, prior to adding fondant layers:

I hope this helps? If not, maybe a few more clues on your design, will allow as to help you more?

If your cake design is very tall and large, with a smooth rather than textured finish, you might consider a “wrap-around” style with your fondant, but determine first where best to have the seams, so that they can be best “mended” or hidden?

On sculpted cakes that I have to do the wrap around method I like to use a fondant/modeling chocolate mix. One batch of each, kneaded together. It’s easier to mend and nice for getting sharp edges where you need them.
