Haha! I am so clearly hearing you here. I too always save the left over fondant as I hate to waste anything, and then end up wasting more as I have to scrap it and start again!!
Well done to your Dad on sharing and liking too. My Mum has just about got the hang if liking (usually other people’s work not mine because “I’ve seen it and said how much I like it”). Sharing though is a whole different level and let’s not mention attempting a comment lol!.
By the way, the cake is lovely. The edging on the board is so beautiful.
