This started as a bit of a disaster. It was for my son’s Golden Ninja birthday cake which I made after several months of not having done ANY cakes due to the new addition to our family. I ended up not being able to put any details on the poor 3D topper at all by the time our party started. I was totally rusty and had had problems with the fondant for some reason so ran out of time and could not add any of the details. I promised him I’d complete the topper and 4 months later, I finally was able to (still not to the level I wanted). The 2nd pic is the cake as it was presented at the party – I was a bit embarrassed but at least it tasted great. I didn’t even have time to take a decent shot.
The topper is sculpted from cereal treats covered in fondant. TFL =D
