This was a fun cake but also challenging. I never though carving a simple “sphere” would be so difficult. Next time I will use a dome pan to speed things up. This cake is styro on the bottom half and cake on the top. There is a cardboard round separating the cake from styro of course. The cake is supported by two pieces PVC and mounted on pressboard. The base is covered in fondant and I used white food, splattered with a brush to create the “stars”. The top half of the cake is chocolate butter cake with vanilla SMBC, covered in LMF fondant. I used a battery operated flora light for the the center. I have attached a photo of the structure I used as well for anyone who would like to know :)
