A nightmare cake for one of my most dearest friends – so she won’t mind me telling you! I loved making this cake, it was for someone who was a birthday party at a soft play area themed around meerkats (can’t remember name) So I decided that the 4 children were going to be meerkats in a soft play. The figures worked out really well, the icing went on perfect, the decorations around the side, all inspired from Soft Play equipment, looked good. I even made a glass effect porthole for the side.

As I say, I loved making this cake right up until the moment I finished it and somehow managed to drop it . an hour before Anna came to collect.

Devastated. A complete removal of the top of the cake and re-iced, figures remade and top redesigned this is what I managed to produce.

There is always a first time for everything I guess, but this is hopefully the first and only time I will ever drop a cake.
