This cake was one of those last minute orders where someone rings and says I really need a cake and then you cringe when you find out it is for the next weekend haha. Well I was actually in a pretty happy mood when they rang and when they wanted a simple buttercream cake I though yeah why not. I have never made a buttercream cake before but I knew straight away that I didn’t want it to have a perfect buttercream finish. The customer really liked one of my other cakes that had a lot of bling on it but there was no time to order any thing so I suggested I just make some brooches fondant and cachous’s and fondant flowers to give the cake a bit of a blingy feel. I was very happy with how the cake turned out. It looked more like a wedding cake than an engagement cake but the lady I made it for was over the moon when she saw it which made my day.
Thanks for looking :-)

This is beautiful! Did you achieve the buttercream finish by running the tip of a spatula around the cake?
