Unicorn cake for little Annabel. This consisted of rainbow sponge cake, covered with sugarpaste and for the mane and tail, piped buttercream/royal icing mixture. The head was a carved piece of polystyrene/styrofoam, also covered in sugarpaste. He was a very naughty unicorn, because despite my having put several dowels in his head to hold it up, he decided half-way to the party that he was a bit ‘tired’! Fortunately, I had a repair kit with me and was able to fix the cracks around the the neck and the mane before the party started!!!
