It was my first time doing a two tier all cake,,that is without a dummy..I was really nervous about this one…Asked a thousand people about how to do it and searched through almost every page in the net…I usually do a sponge cake with ganache as filling..but many said that wont work for the second tier, since it wont with hold the weight.. I was also given a recipe for a rich chocolate cake for the second teir by a chef who said that will withstand the weight{the recipe had cake mix}…I tried it out but was not happy about how it tasted…Finally my dear friend came to my rescue..She said a two tier cake will work with a sponge and asked me to use straws or long toothpicks as supporters..I went to a fast food outlet and got some really strong straws used for smoothies…I crossed my fingers and prayed this would work…
It was literrally raining cats and dogs here…so had a lot of trouble even making the cake topper- LIGHTENING MCQUEEN…Thats why it doesnt exactly look like the carzz figure…Finally the day of the delivery came, but the rain just wouldnt stop… Both the tiers had a lot of problems and I tried my best to cover it up.. Again perfection was beyond question for this cake..But finally managed to make it look decent…
I personally went for the delivery and the moment to place the two cakes together came..I almost closed my eyes while putting the cakes together…But TADA the cakes stayed perfectly on top of each other…That was a moment of relief…
My client Sunitha was really supportive…And made sure I was calm..Thanks a lot to her too…
However at the end everyone loved my cake, not only how it looked but also how it tasted… And that made all the nervousness and worries worth it..
So thats the story of my cake…
Do let me know how my cake looks..All your valuable suggestions will be very helpfull…:)
