Well, what an experience this cake ended up being! It was originally made for a friend’s baby shower, to be held on a Sunday afternoon at a local winery/cafe. The pea green boat must have some sway with the rain god, because it started raining heavily the night before and didn’t stop for another couple of days. On the morning of the baby shower, i went into the shop (my cake shop and kitchen) to add the moon and box it up, amid wild wind and rain, to find a lovely slick sheen on the cake and water lapping at the rear kitchen door! The baby shower was cancelled as a few roads were washed away, trees came down, there was flash flooding everywhere – it was quite incredible! So the poor cake sat in my humid little kitchen until the Monday, when we donated it to the local SES boys, as they were kept pretty busy over the next few weeks. Shame, really. I thought it was so cute!
