21st caramel mud cake

This cake was my very first order I got after my daughter putting my cakes on face book. It was meant to be a open bible, didn’t quite get the shape right. It was for 200 hundred people, a massive cake for me to start with. It was raining and I didn’t have a box big enough so we covered it in cellephane to stop it getting wet, took 2 people to carry it.

Wow! Its great for a first cake! 200 people! I’d have had a heart attack if somebody had placed such a large order. How large was the cake!
By the way, Jessicakes has a great tutorial for a book on her blog.

Thanks Raika, I must admit I was very nervous about doing this cake, the size and all the writing they wanted on it. I made the cake 60 cm across x approx 50 cm and it was about 15 cm deep. I made 2 cakes 30×50cm to put side by side but found they weren’t thick enough so had to make another 2 cakes to go on top. Thankfully the client was extremely happy with the cake! Thanks for info about tutorial, will check it out. :-)
