I made this sponge cake for a young Polish lad who plays football on my son’s team Counter Attack, he speaks broken English but his face said it all when he saw his cake, he was truly delighted. I made Victoria sponge filled with raspberry jam and covered with vanilla butter cream and added fondant cutouts. the footballers are marshmallows. It’s a long time since I pipped a cake all over in this style I tend to just cover them with fondant icing now! I must admit I enjoyed doing it though.
