I made this cake for my mother, & created it to showcase her beautiful collection of antique roses, which are always at their peak of beauty at Mother’s Day. So how appropriate is that? The bottom tier is an amazing Hawaiian Cream Cake with Cream Cheese icing & fondant covering & decor. The top tier is Almond Pound cake with Almond buttercream icing, encrusted in organic sugar crystals that I custom-colored using luster dust. The roses were cut fresh upon arrival at my parents’ home & placed on the cake using straws so they weren’t inserted directly into the cake.
