A football shaped cake and two oval shaped cakes allowed this fruit fly cake to come to life. Fondant covered, wings are gumpaste, and ‘hair’ is chocolate covered dried spaghetti. Cake measured 3 feet. I made this for one of the students in my lab who graduated with her Ph.D. in physiology using fruit flies as her study model.
