I made this cake for my brother’s birthday on January 30. I covered the top and bottom tiers in fondant, and then hand-painted each side of the double barrel square tier using edible colors. I was inspired by various watercolor images I saw online. The hand-painted panels depict London, Cairo, Venice and his Great Dane Zara who passed away a few years ago. I wanted to capture a wonderful memory for him of places he’s lived and things he loves. The top tier is a double chocolate brownie tier with dark chocolate ganache filling. I absolutely loved making this cake, as it was my first try at hand-painting over fondant!
