Last year, my youngest daughter decided her birthday cake would have the theme Spring! She made a list of every single element she “needed” on the cake and handed it to me. This was the result. Worth it just to see the biggest smile on her face :)
The cake was chocolate with swiss buttercream fillling, covered in light green marshmallow fondant. With food coloring, I painted the bottom to resemble grass and the stems of the flowers. all the decorations were made with gumpaste. There were flowers, bees, ladybugs, butterflies and two bunnies happily eating carrots at the carrot patch. The dirt was made out of oreo crumbs.
There were also 30 cupcakes covered in swiss buttercream with gumpaste or royal icing decorations. I also piped her name in royal icing and placed it in front of the cake.
This was my favourite cake to make so far. I was so proud of it.
