This cake was created for an avid turkey hunter. The cake is vanilla with vanilla pastry cream and German buttercream, (and a boxer of American buttercream) topped with chocolate ganache and toasted coconut. The turkey was sculpting from “Oreo-Os cereal treats” and modeling chocolate, with petal dust accents. The shells (bullets) and tree stump are sculpted from modeling chocolate as well. The feathers and leaves are molded chocolate. This was a fun challenge, although the process of molding feathers was very tedious as I only had 1 of each kind of feather mold.
Modeling chocolate is my go-to for decorating. I always have plenty of chocolate and corn syrup lying around. It’s a little more challenging to attach small details, but it’s delicious!
