I wanted to create a cake that had a gothic feel but still maintained a certain elegance.
I went with a charcoal grey marble with dark stencilling on the bottom tier and a deep red for the top tier and the roses.
I love texture on cakes and really wanted something that looks soft but still hold the clean lines so created wafer paper “velvet” as I had seen in a tutorial on Cake with Pamela Jane.
I’d probably try the velvet spray next time as it was pretty time consuming, although it is very stable and long lasting.
