I have been cake decorating for about a year now. I made this western-themed cake for a friend’s daughter’s 18th birthday. I hand-made the boots from modeling chocolate over Rice Crispies Treats. The conchos around the top tier were made from modeling chocolate in molds I made myself. The rope and horse shoes were made using molds I purchased. I hand-painted plaques on the middle tier from fabric used in the party decor. For the bottom tier I used flexible silicone scrapbooking stamps to emboss the fondant to look like embossed leather. The bandana was created using a paisley mold then hand painted to highlight the detail. The lettering on the bottom tier for was made using stamping tools for leather. This cake was a labor of love.
